Can't Run Programs That Start at Line 10

I have 6.007 Gold. None of my legacy programs that start their numbered lines with 10 will run. I can renumber them but then all the documentation is wrong. If it was just a few programs I wouldn't mind but it affects over 2000 programs. I have downloaded the 5.5 demo and that runs the programs as-is so I'm going to buy 5.5 Gold and then I won't have to rewrite thousands of programs. 6.x just doesn't seem like it was planned very carefully what with the editor problems, unexplained crashes, other problems and now this. The language itself is fantastic. I was a beta tester for the 1.0 DOS version back in the Addison-Wesley days and have bought (Except for a version of Gold that we regular contributors were given free) and used every version since. I love it!

I don't know what it is with the new editor. I still use other editors and avoid whatever is wrong with this new editor. I don't care for the old editor that TB usedto have. John Arscott put a lot of effort into it, but writing such a thing is a tall order, and would probably take a while to police up the inevitable bugs.

I've got a lot of programs too, and I sure wouldn't want to have rewrite them just because of some software gitch.

I suspect John Arscott has died. A real loss to this forum.
There will be no further updates to the editor section.

kryssboo83 That's unfortunate. The editor was written in TB itself. I wonder if there's a way to "de-compile" it to get at an approximation of the original source code. If not, I may start working on a replacement. Now that I'm retired, I need a good-sized project to ~~waste~~ fill my time.

I wonder if someone could hack into it using ghidra... I don't know enough about that sort of thing to try it myself. But quite a few years ago I did turn up what appeared to be some of the "Original" machine code. If I can find it again and you want it I can email it to you.
